Damascus and Amman, 15 March 2023 – Twelve years have passed since the crisis began in Syria and since then, women, men and children in Syria have endured untold suffering, including loss of life, livelihood, home and hope.

I am deeply concerned about the implications of the closure of Aleppo International Airport due to damages sustained in an airstrike. On 7 March, several airstrikes were reported early in the morning that impacted the Aleppo Airport and forcing it to shut down until further notice.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for Syria a.i., Mr Mike Robson, is deeply concerned about Sunday strikes on the Kafer Souseh neighbourhood in central Damascus.
